CAGR

Compound Annual Growth Rate. The mean annual growth rate of an investment over a period longer than one year.

XIRR

Extended Internal Rate of Return. Used to calculate returns for irregular cash flows like SIPs or varying withdrawals.

SWR

Safe Withdrawal Rate. The estimated percentage (usually 3-4%) you can withdraw annually without depleting your corpus.

FIRE

Financial Independence, Retire Early. A program of extreme savings allowing retirement far earlier than traditional timelines.

Marginal Relief

Tax relief ensuring that the tax payable on income marginally above a threshold doesn't exceed the extra income.

FOIR

Fixed Obligation-to-Income Ratio. Percentage of income dedicated to debt repayments (EMIs).

Net Worth

Total Assets (what you own) minus Total Liabilities (what you owe).

Emergency Fund

Liquid cash reserves set aside specifically for unplanned life events and survival.

Indexation

Adjusting the purchase price of an asset for inflation to reduce capital gains tax liability.
